Welcome to the official website for Canadian author Ian Ferguson. Ian has enjoyed a lengthy and prolific career in the entertainment industry. He is an author, playwright, teacher, and a producer and director of both theatre and television projects. He is currently based in Victoria, BC. 

What's New

Ian is currently working on a non-fiction humour book for Douglas & McIntyre, a much anticipated follow-up to the bestseller HOW TO BE CANADIAN.   

Ian produced and directed 13 episodes of SHE KILLS ME a comedy series featuring funny women. It aired nationally on APTN in 2014-2015.  Ian also wrote, directed and produced a feature documentary GONE SOUTH: HOW CANADA INVENTED HOLLYWOOD which was broadcast on SuperChannel and screened at a number of Film Festivals in Canada and the US.

Ian is the creator/director of the popular live comedy show SIN CITY THE LIVE IMPROVISED SERIAL.  Nominated for two M Awards "Top Improv/Sketch Show" and "Favourite New Production", Season 6 set in 1961 Las Vegas will run in Victoria Feb 16 - April 26, 2016. www.sincityimprovserial.com

Bio

Ian grew up in Northern Alberta as one of six siblings. His unique childhood was the inspiration for his award-winning novel VILLAGE OF THE SMALL HOUSES. Ian studied set design at Mount Royal College in Calgary, going on to earn a BFA degree in Acting from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and later, an MFA in Directing from Toronto's York University.
